Eye lift (Blepharoplasty) Overseas
The Effect of Blepharoplasty
Also known as Eyelid surgery, this is a procedure that removes fat along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids, resulting in a more alert and youthful look.
Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:
- Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
- Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
- Bags under the eyes • Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (coloured portion of the eye)
- Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid
Best Candidates for Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery is usually performed on adult men and women who have healthy facial tissue and muscles and have realistic goals for improvement of the upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding area.
Good candidates are:
- Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing
- Non-smokers
- Individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for blepharoplasty
- Individuals without serious eye conditions
The Blepharoplasty (Eye Lift) Procedure
Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper or lower lids, or all four at the same time. The steps in the eye lift procedure are:
- Anesthesia: Your doctor will recommend the best choice, whether intravenous sedation or general anaesthetic.
- The incision: Incisions for an eye lift are designed for scars to be well concealed. The surgeon may reposition fat deposits, tighten muscles and tissue, and/or remove excess skin.
- Closing the incision: Eye lift incisions are usually closed with removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape.
- See the results: As swelling and bruising subside, you'll see a smooth, better-defined eyelid and surrounding region, and an alert and rejuvenated appearance.
