Risks
Bleeding, infection, asymmetry, irregular scar formation, permanent loss of sensation in breasts and/or nipples, loss of tissue and complications related to anesthesia, in some rare cases. Breast feeding may not be possible.

Longevity of Results
The results of breast reduction surgery will be long-lasting. However weight gain or loss and aging can affect the results.

Post-op Recovery

After surgery, there may be some mild discomfort. This can be controlled by pain medication if needed. Swelling, bruising, scarring and skin discoloration are to be expected. This will usually subside within a couple of weeks. A compresion garment is recommended to provide support and reduce swelling. The scars at the incision lines typically become reddish, raised, and firm a few weeks after surgery, but after many months become faint and soft. After 8-12 months, the scars are relatively inconspicuous. The nipples and some areas of the skin may be numb or sensitive after surgery. Sensation frequently returns within a few weeks or months but may be diminished or overly sensitive.
